You see a list of names. All of them promise quality work and fair prices. How do you actually tell them apart?
That is what this page is for.
Best In MoCo analyzed 35 electrical businesses serving the Porter area. We pulled 394 Google reviews, checked business data, verified licenses directly with the state, and ran the results through our 100-point MoCoScore system. Three finalists made the final ranking. The rest did not.
You will find the full breakdown below, along with the data behind each ranking. This page is built for homeowners and property owners comparing electrical contractors in Porter and surrounding Montgomery County.
Research for this ranking was completed on October 9, 2026, and each finalist's TDLR license record was verified directly on October 9, 2026. Only the three finalists are featured here.
One thing worth knowing up front: Porter is a small town, but its top electricians are actually based here. All three finalists hold Porter addresses. The scores are separated enough that the ranking order is clear, but the businesses are not interchangeable: each brings a different mix of review history, experience, services, and specialties. These rankings come from available business data and our review analysis, not star ratings alone.
A 5.0-star rating can look impressive at a glance. But the number of reviews behind it, how recently customers posted them, what those customers actually described, and other business signals can change the picture. That is why we use MoCoScore.

How We Evaluated Porter Electricians
Best In MoCo provides this ranking. The target search is best electricians near porter because homeowners here compare electricians who actually serve the area. We identified electrical businesses that serve the Porter area, pulled and scored their Google reviews, researched each business, and applied the MoCoScore.
Thirty-five businesses were analyzed. Reviews were pulled from 31 of them. Three finalists made the final ranking.
For license verification, we looked up each finalist's electrical contractor license directly in the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation records on October 9, 2026. All three licenses showed Active status. The license number and a direct link to its TDLR record appear in its section below.
Before hiring, recheck the finalist's license yourself. Texas contractor licenses expire and change status, and this is not a one-and-done check.
Our Eligibility Requirements
A business had to meet every requirement below to be eligible for the ranking:
The screening requirements were:
- Holds an active Texas electrical contractor (TECL) license
- Serves the Porter area as part of its regular service coverage
- Enough verifiable business information to research and score
- No regulatory or complaint history that disqualifies it
One honest note on the review spread: Jackman's 93.8 leads on review volume (172 Google reviews) and 16+ years in the field, while PowerTex (82.4) and Sanmore (80.0) are strong but thinner on review volume. We report that difference plainly rather than smoothing it over.
What We Researched
Research was conducted on October 9, 2026. Every finalist's TDLR license record was verified directly on the same date.

How We Analyzed Customer Reviews
We pulled 394 Google reviews newest-first from 31 of the 35 analyzed businesses and scored review patterns across the MoCoScore categories. We also looked beyond the headline star rating: a strong average rating backed by 172 reviews gives you different information than the same rating backed by only a handful, and repeated customer comments can reveal what a contractor appears to do particularly well.
Reviews were used as scoring data only. Findings below are reported as aggregate mention counts; no individual reviews are quoted and no reviewers are named.

Understanding the MoCoScore Ranking System
MoCoScore is Best In MoCo's 100-point scoring system. It uses nine categories so one attractive metric does not decide the entire ranking.
MoCoScore: 100 Points
- Customer Satisfaction20
- Review Confidence15
- Attribute Sentiment15
- Consistency10
- Longevity10
- Review Recency10
- Risk Signals10
- Local Presence5
- Professional Verification5
What the categories measure, in plain English:
- Customer Satisfaction: how strongly the available customer feedback reflects overall satisfaction.
- Review Confidence: how much confidence the available review data provides. A larger body of feedback gives the analysis more evidence to work with. This is where the finalists separate most: Jackman’s 172 Google reviews give it far more backing than the smaller review counts behind PowerTex and Sanmore.
- Attribute Sentiment: what customers describe about specific parts of their experience, rather than relying only on the star rating. Computed from substantive reviews that actually describe the work.
- Consistency: whether the available feedback shows a consistent customer experience.
- Longevity: the business history captured in our research. Jackman and Sanmore both show 15+ years; PowerTex holds a newer license issued in 2026.
- Review Recency: how current the available customer feedback is. Sanmore’s pulled reviews skew older, which cost it points here.
- Risk Signals: signals in the researched data that could affect confidence in the business. All three finalists show clean records.
- Local Presence: the company’s presence in the area covered by the ranking. All three finalists are based in Porter.
- Professional Verification: available professional and license information reviewed during research. All three hold active Texas electrical contractor licenses verified directly with TDLR.

How the scores read for Porter: Jackman's 172-review record carries its Review Confidence to 12.4/15, the highest on this page, while PowerTex (6.2/15) and Sanmore (5.0/15) post the same 5.0-star rating on much smaller review bases. PowerTex's 2/10 Longevity reflects its license issued in January 2026, and Sanmore's 2/10 Review Recency reflects an older review sample. All three hold perfect Customer Satisfaction, Consistency, Risk Signals, Local Presence, and Professional Verification scores.
The result is still a research tool, not a promise about what will happen on your job. Use the score to compare the finalists. Then look at the services, experience, review patterns, and current credentials that matter for your project.

Why PowerTex Electric LLC Ranked #2
Its Google profile carried a 5.0-star rating from 12 reviews at the time of research. The smaller review volume is the main reason it trails Jackman in the scoring: the rating is the same, but the evidence behind it is thinner.

Electricians Serving the Porter Area
Porter is unusual among small Montgomery County towns: its top electricians are actually based in Porter itself. All three finalists hold Porter addresses. Jackman Electrical Services LLC is at 23013 Volga Dr, PowerTex Electric LLC at 21347 Village Crossing Ln, and Sanmore Electric LLC at 23640 Debra Ln, all in Porter, TX 77365.
That is not always the case in the county's smaller communities, where homeowners often hire contractors driving in from Conroe or Kingwood. In Porter, you are hiring neighbors, and every finalist in this ranking holds an active Texas electrical contractor license verified directly with TDLR on October 9, 2026.

What to Look For Before Hiring an Electrician
A ranking can narrow your search. It cannot inspect your electrical system, define your project, or make the final hiring decision for you. Before work starts, check a few things yourself.
Verify the Current License
- Verify the TECL license yourself in TDLR LicenseSearch before signing anything
- Name the job clearly when you call so quotes compare apples to apples
- Read reviews for repeated themes, not one-liners
- Get written estimates from at least two of the three finalists
- Compare scope line by line; never choose on price alone
- Never pay in full before the work is done and inspected
Save or print this checklist to keep beside your estimates.
Start with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Best In MoCo verified all three finalists' TDLR licenses as Active on October 9, 2026 (license numbers and direct record links are in each review above), but licensing status can change. Check the current TDLR record before you sign a contract or allow electrical work to begin.
Match the Electrician to the Job
“Electrical work” covers a lot of ground. Installing a generator is different from replacing a panel. Adding an EV charger creates different questions than troubleshooting a circuit that keeps failing. Jackman's DuroMax dealer status matters if you want a portable generator. Its Tesla Wall Connector certification matters for EV charging. PowerTex lists panels and diagnostics as core services. Sanmore's review themes point to breaker work. Match the contractor's apparent strengths to your project.
Look at Review Patterns, Not Just Ratings
All three finalists carry 5.0-star Google ratings. That tells you less than it appears to. Look at how many reviews sit behind the rating, how recent they are, and what customers actually describe. Jackman's 172 reviews give you far more to read than 7 or 12. Repeated themes like knowledgeable staff or breaker replacement tell you what each company appears to do most.
Compare More Than Price
The lowest bid is not always the only factor. Compare licensing, experience, review depth, communication, and service specialties before making your decision.
How to Verify an Electrician's License in Texas
Every Texas electrical contractor must hold an active TECL from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Best In MoCo verified each finalist's record directly in TDLR LicenseSearch on October 9, 2026, but licensing status can change, and this is not a one-and-done check.
What Is a TDLR Electrical Contractor License?
A TECL license is the state's credential for electrical contractors. The record shows the license holder, the associated master electrician, the status, and the expiration date. Confirm all of it before signing anything.
License Numbers for Our Three Finalists
Research snapshot
All three licenses showed Active status when verified on October 9, 2026. PowerTex's TDLR record lists master electrician Treaver Lynn Harris with a license expiring October 16, 2026. Verify the current status of both the contractor license and the master electrician of record before hiring. Why License Verification Matters
Texas contractor licenses expire and change status. A record captured during research should not replace a current check before electrical work begins. Recheck the number yourself before signing anything; each finalist's record link is in its section above.

What Our Customer Review Analysis Found
Rating vs. Review Volume
A rating is only as trustworthy as the volume behind it. The research snapshot for the three finalists:
That difference is exactly what the Review Confidence category in the MoCoScore measures. Jackman's 172-review 5.0 carries more weight than PowerTex's 12-review 5.0 or Sanmore's 7-review 5.0, which is why Review Confidence separates them at 12.4/15 versus 6.2/15 and 5.0/15 even though all three ratings are perfect.
Recent Reviews vs. Overall Rating
A rating supported by recent jobs beats one carried by old reviews. That is the Review Recency category: Jackman and PowerTex both scored a perfect 10/10, while Sanmore's 2/10 Review Recency shows its pulled reviews skew older than the other finalists'.
Why We Read the Themes, Not Just the Stars
Substantive reviews describe real work: knowledgeable staff, punctuality, breaker replacement, charger installs. The Attribute Sentiment category rewards detailed, positive feedback over one-line “great service” reviews. All three finalists scored 13.4 or higher out of 15 on Attribute Sentiment.
Repeated strengths
- Knowledgeable, punctual, thorough service (Jackman themes)
- Charger and Tesla work in customer feedback (PowerTex themes)
- Breaker replacement and cleanliness (Sanmore themes)
- All three finalists based in Porter with active TECL licenses
Signals we watch
- Small review bases behind two perfect ratings (PowerTex: 12, Sanmore: 7)
- Older review sample (Sanmore Review Recency: 2/10)
- Short licensed track record (PowerTex Longevity: 2/10, license issued January 2026)
- Related-entity website (Sanmore shares its site with Buddy’s Total Electric LLC)
What a MoCoScore Means (and Doesn't)
What Does a MoCoScore Mean?
A MoCoScore is Best In MoCo's 0-100 composite of nine research categories, from Customer Satisfaction and Review Confidence to Risk Signals and Professional Verification. It is a research tool for comparison, not a promise about any individual job. Here are the three finalists on the same scale:
What Doesn't a MoCoScore Mean?
It is not a license status, an insurance certificate, or a guarantee of pricing or outcomes. It does not replace checking the TDLR record yourself before hiring, and it is not a ranking that can be purchased or influenced by advertising.
Why Score Differences Matter Here
Jackman's 11.4-point lead over PowerTex comes mostly from Review Confidence (12.4 vs 6.2) and Longevity (8 vs 2), not from any difference in star rating. Both post a 5.0. The difference is the evidence behind the rating.

How do I verify an electrician's Texas license?
Look up the contractor’s license directly in the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation LicenseSearch. Check that the status shows Active, note the expiration date, and confirm the master electrician of record. Best In MoCo verified all three finalists as Active on October 9, 2026, but records change, so recheck before hiring.
What should I ask before hiring an electrician?
Consider asking: Is your Texas electrical contractor license current? What services do you provide? How much experience do you have with this type of project? For generators, which brands do you install and service? Can you explain the work that needs to be completed? What should I expect during the project?
Why compare more than Google ratings when choosing an electrician?
All three Porter finalists carry 5.0-star ratings, so the rating alone does not separate them. A stronger comparison also looks at how many reviews sit behind the rating, how recent they are, what customers describe, years in business, and verified license status.
